Gibson Custom Shop Limited Silver Mist Non-Reverse Firebird Electric Guitar. Introduced in 1963, the Gibson Firebird brought a brand new and radical design to the world of electric guitars. With its neck-through-body construction, asymmetrical body shape, and reverse headstock, the Firebird was unlike anything else around. In 1965, in an effort to boost sales, Gibson reversed the design of the Firebird, making the bass horn slightly longer than the treble side, as well as switching the layout of the headstock.

In order to keep up with the competition of the color options Fender had for their guitars, Gibson also offered ten custom color finishes on their instruments. These custom colors were inspired from the paint jobs on popular cars of the time, silver mist coming from a 1959 Oldsmobile.

This silver mist non-reverse Firebird is part of a limited run by the Gibson Custom Shop to recreate a timeless guitar in a finish that you wouldn't normally see offered on this model. Features include a solid mahogany body, 1-piece mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard and 22 frets, three Gibson mini humbuckers, and the straight ahead setup of a stopbar tailpiece with an ABR-1 bridge. These guitars pump out an excellent tone with lots of midrange and clarity from the mini humbuckers, and the rounded Firebird neck profile feels nice and full.
