Original signed Hirschfeld drawing of Grammy Award winner Tennessee Ernie Ford with inscription to "TV Guide" photographer Bill Kahn. Original pen-and-ink drawing of Tennessee Ernie Ford on 8.5" x 14.75" art board, signed "Hirschfeld," inscribed by the great caricaturist "For Bill Kahn / who took the only / photo of me in which / I do not need a/haircut." Affixed on verso is Kahn's 7.75" x 9.75" black & white photograph of Hirschfeld, with paint brush in hand, looking at the drawing of Phil Silvers he has just finished for the August 17, 1957 cover of "TV Guide." Kahn has handwritten beneath the image "My Photo For / TV Guide." Kahn has also affixed his business card on verso, "William Kahn, Inc. / Advertising / Photography." Al Hirschfeld drew a total of 34 covers for "TV Guide" from 1956-1998. Actor, television host, and country and western, pop, and gospel singer Tennessee Ernie Ford won the 1964 Grammy Award for Best Gospel Or Other Religious Recording. Hirschfeld's daughter, Nina, was born in 1945, and the artist began including the name "Nina" into his line drawings. It can be seen in this drawing connecting Ford's eyebrows.
